Our story
Breaking boundaries was the act of bravery of the Otsuka Family. Leaving Japan for Brazilian soils, Masakatsu Otsuka, 29 years old, accompanied by his parents, grandmother, brother and also his eldest son and his wife Toshiko Otsuka, arrived in Santos, State of São Paulo in April 1972.
His love for Brazil was the starting point for building a legacy of dedication, courage and love for work and family.
After a season in São Paulo, they went to the State of Maranhão where they explored the region’s native forest. Thus, only in 1976, the Otsuka Family took root in the São Francisco Valley, where they dedicated themselves to agricultural production. In this land the opportunities flourished.
In 1980, Masakatsu Otsuka, with his entrepreneurial vision, started the cultivation of mango in the region, together with his family. In the following year, Gold Fruit was represented by a small plantation of Haden mangoes. Its fruits were very well accepted in the domestic market, above all, for the extraordinary quality.
The Otsuka Family saw in the fruit sector a great growth opportunity, which culminated in the foundation, in 2005, of Gold Fruit Importação e Exportação Ltda., In the São Francisco Valley, starting to export its fresh fruits to the most different markets.
Today the company is considered one of the largest and most reliable in the field of mangoes production destined for export. With operations in Petrolina - PE and in the cities of Bahia: Juazeiro and Casa Nova.
